Learn more with us: Learn more with LESS.

We lend to public school teachers who support hands-on learning styles, who value our services, who are willing to pickup and return the equipment at our south Los Angeles location (2606 W. 54th St. Los Angeles 90043), and who can sign a hold-harmless agreement attesting to their own expertise and ability to lead students in the safe usage of the equipment.

Teachers also need to treat us very nicely, please.

For each one-month loan of equipment, we would like to charge the school 15% of the retail price of the equipment. Schools who cannot afford this rental price should still talk to us; maybe we can work something out.

Traditional Lab Equipment Inventory:

Microscopes

We offer to lend National model CLED-134 microscopes, as a class set of ten. Each features a movable stage for precise control of the field-of-view, and low-heat LED illumination for longer viewing times of live specimens. The objective lenses provide 10X, 40X, and 100X (oil-immersion) magnification, the eyepiece lens providing an additional 10X factor. We recommend that use of the 100X objective lens be limited to advanced high school work, as even the gentlest misuse of that lens can damage both the lens and your specimen slide.

Teachers, please note that each microscope needs a place to plug into for electricity.

These are available for loan to teachers at public schools only, including charter schools.

Microscope Cameras

We offer digital cameras that fit into the eyepieces of microscopes such as ours, in a class set of ten. These cameras take still shots via a USB connection to a Windows computer, such as our netbooks. Video of live, moving speciments is possible, too, with a maximum duration of two minutes for each video clip.

Vacuum pump

We offer one 6 cu.ft./min. pump with plastic bell jar attached (1-gallon).

This is great for low-pressure demonstrations, particularly in a chemistry class. You can reach the triple point of water in the bell jar. You can plot Boyle's law with a balloon that self-inflates as the pressure drops.

Glen of LESS, trained by the American Vacuum Society, can show you personally how to operate the vacuum system safely for any of the above activities. Contact us for this help.
